Context

The client was a Canadian geology and geophysics group interested in prospecting opportunities in the Brazilian market. The client hired NNF to assist them in developing new businesses and entering the Brazilian market.

The company delivered a study of the Brazilian geosciences market, presenting the client with the market situation and potential opportunities.

Action

The project consisted of a strategic analysis of the domestic oil and gas market, focusing on the geology and geophysics segment. The study included business opportunities and risks in the country, in addition to identifying Brazilian companies in the sector that could be potential partners or acquisition targets for the customer.

The company classified the potential partners according to synergies, market size, credibility and shareholding structure. After evaluating forty-six companies, NNF created a shortlist of five companies most aligned with the client's goals.

After receiving the report, the client executives visited Brazil, established institutional relationships with the main public and private stakeholders in the sector, and visited the potential partners identified in the strategic analysis report.

Results

The client decided to establish a business unit in the country, while NNF was responsible for the process of incorporating the national subsidiary. Once it was established, the consulting firm became the company’s institutional representation before public bodies and was also responsible for the development of new businesses with potential customers.

NNF represented the client in Brazil for four years, having participated in several bids for contracting the company's services in the country.
