Market Analysis
Context
The client was a Brazilian logistics company that sought to expand its operations into the oil and natural gas sector. In order to do this, it needed to analyze potential opportunities in the downstream segment, as well as having commercial support to approach market players and to prospect its services to potential customers.
NNF was hired to conduct the strategic assessment of business opportunities in logistics operations (terminals, pipelines and shipping) with a focus on the sale of eight refineries included in Petrobras' divestment plan.
The company recruited a team of experts consisting of professionals with more than 30 years of experience in engineering, operation and maintenance of various logistical assets related to the refineries of the Brazilian state oil company.
Action
In order to identify the most promising long-term logistics assets for the client’s potential investment decision, NNF set the parameters to analyze each of the listed refineries, such as location, production, revenue, infrastructure, market size, distribution bases and environmental and social risks.
NNF also considered the client's areas of expertise and strategic dimensions to prepare an assessment of these business opportunities. The consulting group performed a data survey and compiled detailed and complete reports on each of the requested refineries, resulting in a comparative analysis of the assets.

In the next stage, NNF provided commercial support to the client in negotiations with market players. Lastly, the project helped opening new opportunities for the client inside and outside of the downstream market, with possibilities for the client to operate in the biofuel’s storage and transport market, infrastructure operations and natural gas transport (liquefied or compressed).
